KURUTZ "The California Gold Rush", 700. // "A trained physician and Mexican War veteran, Wooster left Adrian, Michigan, on March 17, 1850, with his brother James, followed the California Trail, and arrived at diggings near Placerville on July 5, 1850. After a brief try at mining, he acquired a ranch above Marysville and raised grain and stock for the miners. He later started the 'Pacific Medical Surgical Journal' in 1857. This volume contains twenty-two dated letters by Wooster. The majority of California letters were sent from Ousley's Bar in Yuba County."
