Quarto. 186pp. Original brown decorated cloth stamped in gilt and dark brown, designed by George Wharton Edwards. Illustrated throughout with many vignettes and a few full page illustrations by Frederic Remington. Text-block with a little separation at chapter 5, scattered, minor wear to a few pages (very light tiny stains, a couple of pages with tiny nicks at the fore-edge); previous owner's contemporary ink inscription largely erased (but for "Phila. April 1892"); some offsetting to the endsheets as a result of the dustjacket, else A Very Good+ copy in Howes' secondary binding ("smooth brown linen stamped in brown and gold"); in the very rare original printed dustjacket, which reproduces the design from the front cover. Triangular chip missing from the front panel at the top of the spine fold, jacket showing some overall darkening and edgewear. Still, a sound, at least Very Good example of the original dustjacket, rarely seen at all with this title, and even more unusual in such presentable condition.
